This past lunar month was Hungry Ghost festival
中元节 in Singapore. I love that time of year with the smell of smoke everywhere and strange and interesting offerings to be found on every street corner and gaudy concert on makeshift stages all around the city. The story goes that during that month the gates of heaven and hell are opened and your ancestors come and walk the earth, so people lay offerings such as fake money and burn them for their dead relatives, the concerts are to entertain these wandering ghosts to stop them getting bored and creating too much mischief.
I was away for much of the month and so sadly missed the great photo opportunity. Check out

Uncle Ringos' FunFair yesterday, reminded me of New Brighton with that abandoned amusement arcade vibe. Nobody even manning the bumper cars. We drove past later on in the evening and the stadium was almost full, think people were just waiting until after the sun went down.
Finally getting around to posting pics from our recent trip to North Amerikey. Grapejuice was part of the incredible Caribou Vibration Ensemble playing at ATP festival in New York.

So so happy to be back home in Singapore in time for Lunar New Year! Went for a walk around Chinatown. This is the year of the Ox so you can see a lot of cow images in the decorations alongside the cow statues in the Sri Mariamman temple .
