Good Day Sunshine

Back home in Singapore, woke up to this incredible sunrise. The stormiest days always start off the prettiest.

Chuanr

Learning Chinese, people often tell you how the Chinese characters are based on pictures so they are easy to remember; like the character for the sun looks a bit like the sun: 日。I was never totally convinced with that example, but these signs show the character 串 'chuanr' and couldn't look any closer to their meaning: meat on a stick.

Macarons Cheesecake

Had the tastiest desserts and tea at Obolo today, I love that this place is 5 mins from our house but also could probably do with walking more than 5 minutes after one of these crazy cheesecakes.

Thaipussam

In honour of Thaipussam the Hindu festival that took place this weekend, here's a picture we took of one of the many Hindu temples in Singapore.
On our way to the cinema on Sunday night to watch Changeling () we saw all the devotees with their interesting piercings; spears through tongues or cheeks and then rings through their backs or chest that all linked to a headdress. I didn't have my camera with me unfortunately but took a picture with the blackberry:

Can you spot the wine fairy?

There really is a 'wine fairy' in this picture taken inside the Divine Bar on Saturday night. The bar is in an art deco building appropriately nicknamed by Singaporeans 'Gotham City'. If you order a top shelf bottle of wine the fairy is hoisted up to the ceiling to collect it.
