The Long Now in San Francisco
One of the highlights of my recent time in California this autumn was a visit to the Long Now foundation.
These are the chimes of the 10,000 year clock; a clock which should be able to keep an accurate time for the next 10,000 years. It should be maintainable with bronze-age technology, possible to determine operational principles of the clock by close inspection and improvable with time. A real example of long term thinking.

ATP New York Sep 2009
.
Finally getting around to posting pics from our recent trip to North Amerikey. Grapejuice was part of the incredible Caribou Vibration Ensemble playing at ATP festival in New York.
So to the ATP Round Up that corresponds to the images: We stayed in a cabin, watched some bands, dressed as yetis (then got told off for dressing as yetis), admired the venues' decor and spent 10 hours in a van...

walk to the library
A couple of snaps I took during our walk to the library in Bugis. I love that so many of the buildings here are painted bright colours. The 'Keep Out' sign is also a really familiar sight here on all the construction sites, it is written in all 4 of the national languages; English, Malay, Tamil and Mandarin.
Happy Halloween
grapejuice as the balloon boy and our crew which included zoro, a mexican drug dealer, super mario, a couple of hippy travelers and myself as penanggalan

The Hungry Ghosts Have Gone Home
This past lunar month was Hungry Ghost festival 中元节 in Singapore. I love that time of year with the smell of smoke everywhere and strange and interesting offerings to be found on every street corner and gaudy concert on makeshift stages all around the city. The story goes that during that month the gates of heaven and hell are opened and your ancestors come and walk the earth, so people lay offerings such as fake money and burn them for their dead relatives, the concerts are to entertain these wandering ghosts to stop them getting bored and creating too much mischief.
I was away for much of the month and so sadly missed the great photo opportunity. Check out this guys photies of Singapore during Hungry Ghost.
